My friends and I love a good game night and one of our favorites is Salad Bowl (I've also heard it called Celebrities). It's a word game where all players contribute three words that start with the same letter. In two teams, players go back and forth guessing as many words as possible from a teammate's clues. While this is similar to games like Taboo and charades, it is played in three rounds.
The rules of this round are like Taboo where you can do anything to get your team to guess the word other than saying the word. Teams go back and forth getting as many words as they can in a minute until all words have been guessed. This signals the end of each round.
Now you can only use charades to get your team to guess the words. Although the words have not changed so if you were paying attention in round one this should help.
The most challenging round, where you are only allowed to give a single word as the clue. Hopefully your teammates have a good memory from the previous two rounds!
The advantage of doing this as an app is to combine time keeping, scoring, and word storage all in one place. It will also layout the rules for each round, which is often a debate. Only one phone would be required and could be passed to whomever's turn it is. Additionally the app could randomly select the letter for you to choose from, and even have a feature to generate words if you prefer that over player input.
